Having realised that youths constitute the future of the nation, churches now pay more attention to their development, by guiding them towards paths of success. The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Lagos Province 10, youth quarterly empowerment seminar, tagged ’Parts to Promotion’ was designed to achieve just that. The seminar encompassed different ways to make it to the top in spite of the current economic recession and how to preserve the future. According to Sola Owoeye, provincial youth pastor, most youths do not translate their confession to action and yet they expect success to come their way. “Diligence is the baseline for promotion. Don’t only wish to be successful but work it out. When your hands are in your pocket and you pray for a secured future, you are wasting your time, because you have pocketed your future,” he said. Owoeye added that hard work was not enough to earn one’s promotion, but that every youth must be ready to go beyond specification with right skills in order to make himself relevant in an organisation. He says; “It is hard work with right skills that David used to kill Goliath. To escape the recession, we need to arm ourselves with covenant practice in order to create avenue for the flow of Abrahamic blessings because the future of this country lies in their hands.” Adeola Oduloye, a participant, told the magazine that the seminar was an eye-opener for her, particularly in understanding some principles of greatness. She noted that listening to Owoeye inspired her to put in more efforts and invent more ways of making her laundry business relevant to her clients. “I have learnt ways my clients can’t afford to substitute my services for my counterparts, even with the meltdown,” she disclosed. Ezekiel Afolayan, pastor in charge of the province, explained that securing the future of the youth is part of the major responsibilities of the province. “We are ready to guide them towards the right part and we remain committed to affecting the lives of generations ahead through such seminars and greater ones,” he told the magazine.
